THE LIBRARY : A CURATED HOME WITH KIM MUPANGILAÏ

i first discovered kim mupangilai’s work when coming across an image of her incredibly beautiful and wonderfully warm living room while scrolling online. her eye for curation and the layered, yet minimal interiors of her brooklyn home got me immediately interested. i’ve been following her work for the past three years and have enjoyed celebrating her creativity from across the pond. the recent exhibition ‘HUE/AM/I - HUE/I/AM’ shared kim’s debut furniture collection . it’s title refers to skin tone and is a nod to her belgian & congolese background. the collection utilises natural materials such as teak, stone, rattan, and banana fiber – all symbolic of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

for this feature kim has shared the mood boards which inspired her furniture collection and a list of her 5 favourite design pieces at home. this library of images and selection of objects shares kim’s appreciation for culture and craftsmanship with her effortless ability to approach design in a way that is eclectic, curious and grounding.
